Katie Keenan is a comedian who has been involved in nearly all facets of production both for stage and film, primarily as a writer, producer, and director for 15+ years. Starting in Raleigh, she trained and performed at ComedyWorx and what was then iO South (fun fact - she is one of the only people who has performed/trained or taught at all three iO theaters! Before two of them closed). She’s also done standup comedy in such places as Charlie Goodnights, Stage Left Theater, and LA Connection.
For the past 10 years, Katie has lived in Chicago, training and performing improv and sketch at such institutions as The Second City, iO Chicago, The Annoyance Theater, and The Playground Theater, as well as coaching and performing with independent improv and sketch teams. Most recently, Katie has been living in LA, focusing on work as a commercial actor, and also training and performing at The Groundlings, UCB Sunset, Kalmenson & Kalmenson, LA Connection, and others. She has trained independently with instructors/coaches including Brendan Jennings (Parks and Recreation, Cook County Social Club) and Guy Stevenson (writer, MadTV) to name a few. Katie has personally worked with Jen Spyra (writer, The Onion, The Late Show), John Thibodeaux (The Second City Mainstage, writer, The Late Show), Heath Cullens (director, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia), Trin Miller (actor, Captain Fantastic), Ethan Henry (Bloodline, Graceland, Burn Notice), and many others. Her independent web series, THE CANADIANS was picked up by ENV Pictures and is available on Amazon.
Some of her Chicago film credits include: Kathryn Upside Down (Independent feature), One Day at a Time (Winner of the Audience Award at Take 1 Film Festival at Columbia College Chicago), and a web short called Snoop Dogg Smart Home with the funny folks of Big-Little Comedy. Some stage work included sketch shows Madame Senator: Weapons of Mass Seduction with the all-female sketch/improv team Madame Senator, Rahm Zombie (endorsed by NBC Chicago), and Flex Your Teeth! at Second City and the US premiere of an Irish play, Nasturtiums and Cherry Buns, where Katie only had like two notes from the dialect coach ever (half of her family lives in Ireland so that helps).
Katie grew up in North Carolina, where she attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (Go Heels!), trained and performed with ComedyWorx short form and long form, Teen Co., and has taken seminars with UNC alums, Lewis Black (The Daily Show) and Brian Tucker (Chapelle's Show, SNL).
